Amigurumi Guide: Troll Ragdoll (pattern compliation)

Like in my last "pattern" post, I compiled all of the patterns I used to create the finished product.

The finished troll doll
I wanted something different when it came to the style of ragdoll. At first I thought of those little felt characters from Blue's Clues. Flat round head, triangle (for the girl) body and rectangle legs. I decided to make the head a bit more 3D to accommodate all of that hair and I feel it worked out rather well!

For the base of the pattern - part of the head and the dress/body I used this pattern:

 https://annavirkpanna.com/2017/05/03/anksnuttis-duckragdoll/

English is at the bottom of the post.

I don't have exact colors for the yarn I used. All yarn was Red Heart Super Saver worsted weight yarn.

BUT I didn't start from the beginning.

Here are my notes:

I used

  • H hook (5mm)
  • RHSS ww yarn

The dress is worked from the bottom up.
** Starting with Row 9
ch 48 with sage green color

R 1-3. 48 dc around  [I will chain 2 at the beginning, after each join and DC in
the same stitch]
(dc for 3 rows)
After your first 4 rows in the sage green are done switch to blue for the rest and
continue on from row 10 to 23 as the pattern reads.

RUFFLES
Once I fasten off then I move to the first row (at the bottom, right after the green) .
I go under each post (stitch) and make a SC around each all the way around,
then slst in the last sc.
Next I *sk 2, sc, sk 2, 6 dc in st* around. I was able to end with a sc and a slst.

** you could do front loop only or whatever. I did both loops for this.
you can also choose to sew the ruffles down or leave them as is.

BUTTON DETAIL - I think this is optional, but I decided to add it.
In dress shade:
H (5mm) hook, Magic circle, sc 8. join and fasten off. Sew one line of lighter blue in the center, tie off on the back.

Arms and Legs: h hook

LEGS: ch 13, join with slst - don't twist chain.
ch 2, dc around for  7 rows  (ch 2 doesn't count as st, dc in same space after each ch 2)

ARMS: ch 11, join with slst - don't twist chain.
ch 2, dc around for 7 rows (ch 2 doesn't count as a st, dc in same space after each ch 2)

I had an OOPS moment BUT I fixed it!

BEFORE
I assembled the arms and legs, stuffing them just a bit at the bottom. You can stuff them fully or leave them un-stuffed, that is entirely up to you.
I stuffed the head, stitched on the nose (free hand) and attached it to the body.
Then I realized that there just wasn't that much room for all of the details - especially the hair.

Many of the Troll hat patterns start off with a slighly cone shaped base to help shape the hair in the final product.

So I had to make a cone and attach it to the top of the head.

I used this pattern for the cone - I ended it with 30 stitches total for the round.
Using #3.

EX of last row: SC 2 in next, 8 sc (30)
https://caramedus.com/2013/10/14/top-tech-tips-shaping-amigurumi/#comments

This was done with H (5mm) hook as well.

AFTER
EYES: make 2 of each part
3.75 mm or 4mm hook (mine was F)

Black - Magic circle, sc 6. join and fasten off.

Pink (darker than base color) - Magic circle, sc 6. 2 sc in each st (12), join and fasten off.

White - Magic circle, sc 8. 2 HDC in next 3 stitches, 2 sc in last 5 stitches (16)

Sew the black on the pink, then the pink to the white and attach to the head.

I added a little white to the eyes.

EARS: NOT IN THE ROUND, make 2
F hook (3.75mm or 4mm) flesh base color

Magic circle, sc 6. Ch 1 turn
R1 - sc in next 4, 2 HDC in last 2. Ch 1 turn
R2 - 2 HDC in next 4, sc in last 4. Ch 1 turn
R3 - sc in next 6, 2 DC in next 2, sc in last 4. Ch 1 turn
R4 - sc in next 4, 3 DC in next 2, sc in last 8
Fasten off

Cut long string when fastening off.
SLST through the magic circle and pull both strings tight.

Fold down the top of the ear (see pictures) and slst to the ear.
Mold ears and attach.

The end where my hook is, is the part that will be folded u when you slst into the magic ring.
The little bit of the ear that is folded under my finger is where I slst to form the ear.
When molded/formed it should look something like this.
HEADBAND: H (5mm) hook and the sage green color.
Ch 22, HDC in 3rd chain from hook and across. Fasten off.

FLOWERS:  Came from this pattern http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/poppy-troll-doll
I used either my F (3.75mm) or my G (4.25mm) hook. A 4mm hook would work as well. You just don't want them too big.

For a tutorial on how to do the hair you can go to https://www.facebook.com/justcraftingaroundblog/ and search troll hair.

Or this YouTube video: https://youtu.be/hYVS-uw7ol4

For the last bit of detail I stitched around the edging of the dress. I would have liked to use the light blue, but I ended up using the green color on accident. This detail is optional.

Hope this post was helpful!!

Enjoy your troll ragdoll 😁

Amigurumi Guide: Meet Emma the Giraffe (pattern compilation)

I am not the best at writing up my own patterns. But I do find myself getting extra creative with other peoples patterns. That is what crochet is to me, about being creative.

I was inspired by A Crafty Concept's Flower Crown Bunny I saw on Instagram (@acraftyconcept).

For the base of the pattern I used this Bunny pattern here.

I used ALL Redheart Super Saver Yarn.
For the BROWN I used Redheart Super Saver in Cafe Latte.
For the main color I used Redheart Super Saver in Gold.

I used the E (3.5mm) hook suggested in the main pattern.
For the legs I started with Brown from Round 1 to 5, then switched to Gold.

7. Sc across 10. 2 sc in next 3 stitches.
8. Slip stitch in next stitch.
Fasten off.

For the Horns: x2

Magic circle, sc 6. (6)
2sc in each stitch around. (12)
1 sc in each stitch around. (12)
Switch to Gold:
1 sc in each stitch around 7 times (12)

For the leaves I used this pattern. Plus I love her designs! I got my inspiration from this pattern as well!
I used an F (3.75mm/4mm) hook and a Sage colored green yarn.

For the ears I used this pattern by Repeat Crafter Me. She explains a bit more on the Zebra pattern, so that is the link I chose to direct you to. Love her work as well!
I used a G (4.25)

And finally, for the roses I used this pattern.
I used a Minty color, light medium blue and a baby pink.
I used an F (3.75mm/4mm) hook.

I hope this post was helpful!

Enjoy!
