*NEW* Amigurumi Guide: Cats! (pattern compilation)

It has been a while since I last updated this blog with any two-legged amigurumi. I've been making a few here and there.

I have a list of ideas I still have to get to. 

Today I am going to quickly share with you what I do for my cat version.

As always I will link the patterns that inspired the finished creation.

For both of these I used the base and flower pattern by Alyssa at: https://heart2stitchco.wordpress.com/2018/07/26/free-pattern-teddy-bear-plushie/

For the EARS I use the pattern found here. I prefer the look of this style of ear when it comes to my cat amigurumi.

Both of these were used with Red Heart Ombre acrylic yarn.

Recently I made a tiny version of it. It was one of those happy accidents. I was using some variegated yarn I had and was originally going to make a rainbow-ish Among Us crew mate. But I was looking at my safety eyes and glue-on noses and thought that a tiny cat would be even better! 

And that is how this little one was born. I was using my friend Amy's crew mate pattern using a D hook and the same ear pattern mentioned above, only adjusted to fit the tiny body. I think I only made a few rounds of the ear - I feel this could be personal preference.

I decided to make a quick post with the notes for making the ears on this velvet bunny.

Base pattern I used is this one by Heart.2.Stitch

I used baby velvet by Bernat for the base and an I 5.5mm clover hook.

For the ears I made 4 panels.
2 in the body color and 2 in the contrasting dusty pink (Vel-Luxe by Lionbrand)

Ear pattern notes:
*You will turn after each row

ch - chain
sc - single crochet
2sc - 2 single crochet in same stitch (increase)
dec - single crochet decrease
fo - fasten off

Ears (make 4 panels)

1. Ch 5. Sc 4 across (4)

2. Ch 1, turn. 2sc, sc across 2, 2sc in last (6)

3. Ch 1, turn. sc across (6)

4. Ch 1, turn. 2sc, sc across 4, 2sc in last (8)

5-12. Ch 1, turn. sc across (8)

13. Ch 1, turn. dec, sc across 4, dec (6)

14. Ch 1, turn. sc across (6)

15. Ch 1, turn. dec, sc across 2, dec (4)

16. Ch 1, turn. dec twice (2)

17. Ch 1, turn. dec (1)
FO

You can then sc the two panels together.
Optional: you can sc around each piece first and then sc or slst (slip stitch) or sew the panels together.
It is optional, but you can choose to stuff the ears if you'd like. My daughter requested stuffing in her ears.

Hello and welcome!
   Long time no post. ✌

I started this blog with an idea to share my creations. Sometimes my creations are made up of an assortment of different patterns. I call it a mash-up. I wanted to share that here, linking you back to the original pattern designer and giving you my notes on what I did to achieve the final item. I often will add freehanded details to these dolls and I do my best to write notes on how I made them in a way that I hope translates well enough for you.

Most of these creations will be amigurumi (dolls).

Today I bring you Baby Yoda.
As you can tell by my previous posts, I adore these 2 legged dolls/animals.
There's just something so CUTE about them!

The base pattern is none other than this one by Heart.2.Stitch (formerly comically creative).
I used a G 4.0mm hook.
I used what I believe to be 15mm safety eyes.

For the ears I used this pattern.
I used my slightly bigger G hook, a 4.25mm.

All yarn is acrylic. A blend of either Redheart Super Saver or Mainstays (Walmart).

For the clothing:

Ch = Chain
Sc = Single Crochet
Hdc = Half Double Crochet
Dc = Double Crochet
FO = Fasten Off

You will need a small amount of a Beige color and a medium/dark brown color.
I used my G 4.0mm hook.

Starting with Beige:

1. Ch 46. Sc across. (45)
2. Ch 2, turn. Dc across. (45)
3. Ch 2, turn. 2Dc in 1st stitch, Dc across, 2Dc in last stitch. (47)
FO, leaving a long tail

Attach brown yarn to the bottom (this would be the starting chain of the Beige).
1. Ch 1, Sc across (45)
2. Ch 1, turn. Hdc across. (45)
3. Ch 1, turn. Sc across. (45)
4. Ch 1, turn. Hdc across. (45)
5. Ch 1, turn. Sc across. (45)
6. Ch 1, turn. Sc across. (45)
FO, leaving a long tail

From this point I would secure the color change by knotting the loose ends together and then I weaved the tails into the piece.
The side you weaved them in will now be the "inside" of the clothing piece.
Lay it flat facing up.
Place the doll inside.

From here you can choose to sew the clothing to the actual doll (just sew through the body a few times across the width) or you can sew the clothing piece shut for the option that it can be removed.

I went with the removable option.
I decided to sew the clothing between the legs. It sort of created pants in a way, but this makes it easier for little kids to put the clothing on and remove. It is completely optional.

I am not the best at writing up my own patterns. But I do find myself getting extra creative with other peoples patterns. That is what crochet is to me, about being creative.

I was inspired by A Crafty Concept's Flower Crown Bunny I saw on Instagram (@acraftyconcept).

For the base of the pattern I used this Bunny pattern here.

I used ALL Redheart Super Saver Yarn.
For the BROWN I used Redheart Super Saver in Cafe Latte.
For the main color I used Redheart Super Saver in Gold.

I used the E (3.5mm) hook suggested in the main pattern.
For the legs I started with Brown from Round 1 to 5, then switched to Gold.

For the small spots: I made 2.
E (3.5mm)
Magic circle, single crochet (sc) 6. (6)
2sc in each around (12).
Fasten off.

For the Large spot (on the back): I made one.
E (3.5mm)
Magic circle, single crochet (sc) 6. (6)
2sc in each around (12).
1sc, 2sc in next - around (18).
Fasten off.

Nostrils: x2
E (3.5mm)
Magic circle, single crochet (sc) 6, join. (6)
Fasten off.

*in Black*
For Eyes: x2
E (3.5mm)
Magic circle, sc 8, join. (8)
Fasten off.

*in Buff*
For the base of the snout:

I referenced this eHow page on making an oval shape.
I used a G (4.25mm) hook.
1. Chain 9. Sc in 2nd CH from hook. Sc across 7. In last stitch sc 3.
(Going in the round)
2. On opposite side: Sc across 6, 2 sc in next st.
3. 2 sc in next stitch, sc across 6. 2 sc in next 3 stitches.
4. Sc across 7. 2 sc in next 3 stitches.
5. Sc across 8. 2 sc in next 3 stitches.
6. Sc across 9. 2 sc in next 3 stitches.
7. Sc across 10. 2 sc in next 3 stitches.
8. Slip stitch in next stitch.
Fasten off.

For the Horns: x2
E (3.5mm)
Starting with Brown:
Magic circle, sc 6. (6)
2sc in each stitch around. (12)
1 sc in each stitch around. (12)
Switch to Gold:
1 sc in each stitch around 7 times (12)

For the leaves I used this pattern. Plus I love her designs! I got my inspiration from this pattern as well!
I used an F (3.75mm/4mm) hook and a Sage colored green yarn.

For the ears I used this pattern by Repeat Crafter Me. She explains a bit more on the Zebra pattern, so that is the link I chose to direct you to. Love her work as well!
I used a G (4.25)

And finally, for the roses I used this pattern.
I used a Minty color, light medium blue and a baby pink.
I used an F (3.75mm/4mm) hook.
